Say What?

My cousin from DC sent me these beautiful flowers and signed Dan's name to them. (She thinks husbands should be more romantic!) Unfortunately she forgot to tell Dan about it! It created some mixed up times at the house when I was thanking him profusely for the flowers and he had no idea what I was talking about. Ahhh.. he got laid anyhow!

No Wonder

"Altitude amplifies the buzz," Drake said. "You have a couple of cocktails in Denver, you feel it a little bit more than in Omaha."

No wonder I can drink more at lower elevations. I've been in training for most of the year!

Flamingo Time!

I think Flamingo time sounds like a martini! I am so ready to go for a martini... wish you were all here. I haven't looked it up on the Daily Plate so I don't know if it would eat up my whole day of calories but once in awhile it's soooooo worth it! The Pink Flaming is actually a cat toy that the Moe Boy thinks is wonderful. The Abster has avoided even looking at it but the Moe Boy thinks it is fabulous!

This is why!

This is why we have holes in our water bed mattress. It is still leaking! At first I thought I was having hot flashes and night sweats but now I realize that I'm soaking wet for a real reason. The cats love to romp on the water bed! Ok.. it's now on the schedule that we will be getting a new bed in the spring. In the meantime we will be trying to patch once again!

Cookies are in the house!

It's that yummy time again. Girl scout cookies have been delivered! We now have assorted flavors in the house. Today I moved them to the freezer so if you visit anytime soon you can pick your favorite type of GS cookie and we'll share. I do wish I had ordered more of the lemon cookies though... they seem to have just the right amount of lemon tartness to them. After carefully reading the boxes I realize that I can only have about two cookies a day! Yep.. two cookies a day. Now this is torture because I am capable of eating the whole box with a huge glass of milk. What's your favorite?

Drama Junkies

Just a little rant about Drama junkies. I am not talking about people who enjoy theater. I'm talking about those people who always seem to create drama in their lives and then want everyone to go...Oh you poor soul! Gag me! Just put on your big girl pants and deal! (There is a debate on whether big girl pants are thongs or Granny panties!) Ok... I feel better now... off to create some more drama! And.. where can I find those pants?

Totally Stoked!

Ok...I'm officially not depressed anymore! When I can find great news articles like this I know I'm doing better! Scientist have found the remains of a huge frog that lived in the time of dinosaurs. It was 10 pounds 16 oz and was the size of a bowling ball with heavy armor and teeth! Now I can dig that!

You have got to be kidding!

I can't believe it but the cat is sorting through his food and throwing out the ones he doesn't like! Since Abbey is staying with us we have had to mix cat food because she is still a kitten. Well, Gizmo...affectionately known as the "Moe boy" is now sorting through the cat food and eating the parts he likes and throwing the other stuff on the floor. Spoiled, spoiled, spoiled.

This is what you would have seen

I'm having trouble getting on to the myspace blog site. This is what you would have seen if I could have gotten myspace to take my blog.

Whoa!
I have had the worse time trying to blog! It looks like everyone else can get on to blog except me! I have had to try like 6 times today just to get into the site. If you don't see a blog you know I'm trying but can't log on for some reason. Check my other blog site though (different but still me) because I don't seem to have trouble getting on there.

In other news ... it's been an emotional week! Spent Monday in ER again with Grandpa and he had surgery yesterday. Things are going well as of last night and he will probably be home again on Friday!

Loved Drumming last night. it's so therapeutic for me. Did root and accompaniment rhythms. The circle had three different rhythms going. Nice!

Fun things to do with dry ice!

The other day I received a package in the mail that was packed in dry ice. After everything was unpacked I was left with what to do with the dry ice. Of course the answer is... play with it. I put it in every fountain and sink that I could and turned on the water... instant fog! It's sort of like playing with helium and bubble wrap!

Trampling Dan

I finally know how the cats feel when they sit and look at the door waiting for it to open so they can escape. I spent the weekend with Grandpa alone. It was a good, calm weekend but I was sort of trapped in the house without socialization. I finished one of my online classes, did bills, took care of Grandpa, and sort of organized. However, I was so ready to get out of the house for at least an hour as soon as Dan arrived home. He opened the door and I about trampled him on my way out. Ah, Borders, Walgreen's, and Safeway never looked so good!

Ouch!

The last couple of days have been a little chaotic. Grandpa fell coming out of the foot doctors office and scraped his knee and landed on his head. I didn't even know a person could land that way but he did. He landed on the top of his head and then on his knee. There was blood everywhere (head wounds bleed!) and we were all pretty shook up. I of course cried for the whole day and I wasn't the one hurt. After spending the last two days watching Grandpa closely and taking vitals at all hours the nurses have finally cleared him. Now he just has to heal a little. Meanwhile the foot problem is still a big issue.... but today he did get brand new diabetic shoes which are to minimize friction on the toes etc.

Can't Lose

The heading has a double meaning. Both good and bad. I haven't been losing any weight on the new health program but I can't lose because at least I'm still doing the healthy routine bit. The ying and the yang!

Back on track

Somehow whenever I get down I go back to those things that make me smile or that I have carried around for awhile. This particular plant and planter has been with me for 37 years! Hard to believe but it has. The planter was from a potters cooperative that I belonged to in Ohio and one of the potters accidentally put one planter inside another and fired it. Of course it fused together. This essentially made the planter worthless but for some reason I couldn't let him throw it away. I liked it so I took it home. The plant is from my sister in law who gave me an offshoot of hers...being Irish and all, she had a shamrock plant. Through the years the planter and plant have followed me around. Sometimes I don't even notice them because they are always around. Other times I focus on them and feel good. Funny how that happens.

More Impulse Buying

I am so doing my share to support the economy and the local artists. I love these guys! I feel like I should make up a little dialogue to go with them. Feel free to invent a scenario in your head!

Guard Cats

The cats are watching the fox in our backyard. They are hoping he will go away so they can go out to play. We have to watch the fox because as the houses get built around us the fox is running out of food and probably will eat one of our cats if necessary. So... we watch the fox's habits daily and only let the cats out when the fox isn't around.

Tea with Carol

Since grandpa has been requiring so much care it has been very difficult for me to get out of the house. Because of that I have been having people over to party and visit so I don't go more bananas than I already am. One of the latest events was Tea! Carol and I decided to have tea and we made appetizers and had herbal tea and talked for about two hours. We ate on the fancy dishes and used a tablecloth and everything. It was a terrific break/event in our hectic lives!
