Earth Hour

Last night we participated in Earth Hour. From 8 to 9 pm we turned off all electrical appliances and lights (except for grandpa's since we didn't want to freak him out). The surprising thing for me was the absolute peace we felt talking by candlelight. It was as if all the tension was released when we went into darkness and quiet! We sat on the steps and talked... moved around with candles and just sort of had a time out from the hectic pace of the day. At 9:30 we slowly started turning on certain lights and smoothly slid back into the electrical era. I think we will start incorporating our own little Earth Hours on a weekly basis instead of waiting for a planned event.

Twitter

I'm all a twitter. Actually I have no real idea how twitter works but I'm working on it. Looks like a cool way to waste a lot of my time figuring it out. I don't even know anyone on twitter yet.... is it addicting?

Getting Closer

Dan's first actual day of work at the Boulder Apple store is tomorrow. This means I am getting closer to having him buy me a MacBook Air! Now I just have to invent a reason I need a present.... I would use Mother's Day but I'm not his mother!

Stress Eating

I know that I am definitely a stress eater! Somehow, I know it and do it anyhow which is pretty pathetic. Today I took Grandpa to H&R Block to have his taxes done. Things were going well until the tax lady asked Grandpa if he was doing Ok and had a pleasant experience. Well, Grandpa in his loud voice (I do come by mine honestly) informed her that he's old....almost 93, has diarrhea, and that she's taking his money. He insisted that 1)...he's already paid taxes on his money when he got his pension and 2)... the money in his account isn't even his so why is he paying the taxes on it? Then he demanded to see the account statement (which he's seen many times before) only to look at them and then tell us that he couldn't see them and it made no sense... duh! It actually turned out great because now his taxes are done... I just need to write checks for the amount he owes. Another year for Grandpa out of the way!

Wild Bunch

I have so much to be thankful for and good friends that bring me wine is one of them! I have so fallen in love with this label! Is this like the coolest label? This was a surprise bottle of wine just to cheer me up! Yea!

Quote

loved the quote!

It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious.
- Oscar Wilde

The Party's Over

Well, life is now back to normal because all of the company went home. :( I love wii at all hours of the day, plenty of wine, plenty of food, lots of noise, and of course cell phones ringing all over the house and people asking...is that mine? Grandpa just figured out that everyone left.... all day yesterday he kept asking...where is... where is... Now I'm counting the days till they come back to visit for summer!

Avoidance

Looks like I will do anything to avoid working on taxes. Clean the toilet??? no problem... wash the floor???...no problem....reorganize the whole frickin house??? no problem. None of these things are on my list but... looks like I prioritized without even thinking about it.

Accounting!

I have spent my weekend accounting! I have almost finished one account and have two more to go. Guess what I'm getting ready for?????? Yep, income taxes. As if mine aren't hard enough I also have Grandpa's and Uncle John's. The biggest problem is that since our lives have been on a roller coaster since September.... papers are everywhere. I spend a ton of time just trying to find where we stashed stuff when Grandpa kept going into the hospital. That will teach me to be more organized! Now if I could only find where he put the key to the desk that has last year's forms locked inside. Scavenger Hunt! At least his room will get cleaned!

Sometimes...

Sometimes life just works out... unexpectantly!

1. I've been craving white cake with white frosting lately. So much so that I've been looking for a wedding reception or party to crash.

2. I've been summoned to Arlington, Va to be rebonded for the estate. I really don't want to go to DC because Grandpa isn't strong enough yet to be left in someone else's care.

3. My credit card company called due to a missing statement and we had a small disagreement over the name of the bank.

Well... my lawyer called and said that if I handed over a special/limited POA to him he could handle the DC affair. Since I had to go to the bank anyhow I decided to get the notary to handle my signature. OMG... when I got to the bank they gave me white cake with white frosting because the bank was changing their name (sorry credit card company you were right). Could life get any better? (yes!.. but I'm happy right now!)

I'm Addicted!

I have been watching Quarterlife on the myspace TV and I'm so addicted! I have now watched all 34 episodes and can't wait till Thursday for a new episode to be aired. It's on TV on Sundays and they tend to group some of the episodes together. It's a soap opera format centered around a blog and all the characters are 25 year olds. So far so good but I'm waiting for some of the original characters to reappear again! (oh, and I so think Lisa should really date the bartender!)
