Weird texts

I have been been participating in a 21 day online meditation where we have been working on self awareness and health.  During this meditation we have been guided to notice our bodies, habits, and thoughts.  Now before you think I am about to reveal any profound thought or revelation you can relax because I'm not there at the moment.  But, I have noticed one habit that might result in weird one word texts being inadvertently sent out to random people.  When I am using computer programs that do not have spelling corrections but tell you when a word is wrong, I find that I go to my iphone text messages and type in the word so I can get the correction.  Works way better than a dictionary and is far easier.  Problem is I may end up sending you a strange one word text by accident.  So while others are discovering way deeper thoughts, I am realizing that our actions have been shaped by technology as well in many small ways. (Now tell me that after using an apple product for any length of time you haven't gone up to  screen and tried to touch it and spread two fingers to change the size, only to realize the screen you are at isn't capable of that action.)  So... when you do receive these weird one text words... don't call or send me ?????... just know, I am just spell checking!

Whoa!!!!! Just discovered that Siri will give me spellings... awesome... so now if you hear me uttering one word in public... I'm not talking to you.. I'm just spell checking.

David Bowie

I've been a "Spider from Mars" for a long time.  Best concert I ever attended was the Diamond Dogs tour.  I tell you the theatrics and music blew me away.  I was in a trance during the whole production.  From David floating over the crowd for Major Tom to disappearing and reappearing in different places, the whole show was captivating.  The top moment for me was when David disappeared only to reappear in the palm of the giant purple twinkling hand.  (If any of the above did not happen...don't tell me... I've loved those memories!) Anyhow, Bowie fans have been waiting a decade to hear from him again.  We have respectively honored his silence but secretly inside we have plotted how to try and track him down in New York.... now he reappears out of the shadows and we couldn't be more pleased!  Listening to the new tracks on spotify (which didn't exist in the day) and knowing I will own this CD soon, I am left wondering if a tour is possible.  I certainly will do anything to get a ticket!

Daylight Saving Time

Ok... almost everyone is writing something about DST. I just sort of titled this that because I didn't know what else to say.  My real topic is Snow is Over so I Can Stop Eating! See now,  that didn't quite grab your interest but that's where I'm at today!  We even have sunshine so I no longer need to pack on the clothes pounds to stay warm.  I actually was expecting a bigger storm with the way my body was reacting.  For the three days leading up to the epic fail storm I ate everything I could find that was edible in the house.  Sort of set the whole nutrition plan back by 40 years. Yea for leftover Halloween candy.. so why was that still around and why did I not even hesitate to eat it?  Oh, yeah... my body needed fuel to stay warm... but that's why we have furnaces.. right?  This week promises to be retribution for the unhealthy splurge .... and the last full week before jumping headlong into sunny warmth.

Disaster Day

Yesterday was a day of minor disasters... in fact the day sort of built on the concept of if it could go wrong... then it would!  First thing in the morning I lost my contact... may have even gone down the drain.  Now we aren't talking about one of those disposal soft lens types, but a plasma covered deluxe semi hard lens.  You know the type... cost money to replace and takes at least a week at the lab.  I went into a frenzy when I realized I couldn't see to drive because I didn't have my contact in my eye where it was supposed to be. By that time it was too late to recover it but I was sure I could find it.  Returning to the house I began the contact sweep dance... on the floor sweeping with my hands over every surface I had been close to.  When I dug out the flashlight the cats though I was playing a game and started chasing the beam which totally defeated the purpose of not stepping on the contact had it been there.  Giving up on that stage I dug out my glasses and proceeded to work late.  Always pleasant to walk into the building late mumbling some sort of excuse that only I think is important.  Returning home later in the day I had the great idea that if I took the sink apart I could actually find the contact and avoid ordering a new one.  Getting the tools, clearing out under the sink, finding padding to lay on, I began the disassembling process.  Whoa are those things ever tightened in there tight!  No luck...whats so ever with that project.  Then I started the process of calling the eye care clinic, shifting around with departments, being put on hold, being disconnected and finally talking to a person only to discover the person I usually deal with no longer works there.  Great!  That was music to my ears...NOT!  After a few hours the whole situation was taken care of with a credit card and a promise of a week's wait but at least I was feeling back in balance to go on with regular life.  Feeling great, I was excited that I had finally turned my luck around. I entered the office to make copies for my tutoring students.  Within a matter of minutes ...wham... the printer broke!  WTF.... here we go again!

Squirrel....

Spring is in the air and I'm fighting the impulse to be totally distracted from my set of priorities.  Sometimes is it is more important to have a NOT TO DO list than a TO DO list.  Today is one of those days.  When I went to feed the neighbor's dog early this morning the sun was up and the birds were singing... go figure... they must be happy after the snow storm!  Anyhow, I am now totally into spring happening! (at least until Daylight Savings time happens and we are plunged back into morning darkness!)  Today's goals are all about gathering festival info and exercise... oh... and drumming!  Totally random but I have time off today and those items are necessary in the big scheme of things.  However, with the splurge of spring weather, all I want to do is sort of blow off the day.  Hmmm... squirrel!!!!  OK.. refocus.... off to yoga to set intentions and see where the day goes from there!
